    We were expecting some ruins in a dustbowl - couldn't have been more surprised, this pub is in the middle of nowhere, not past the black stump - but you can see the stump from the veranda if you squint.

    Best pub in the region. Simple tasty food, service with character and a smile, and quiet country views that can't be beat. If you are looking to have a quiet drink in the sunshine then head out on the old dirty road towards the Bowen River Hotel. Very clean and well kept. It is a bit of a drive but it is worth it. Head out on a hot day and ask for an "iceberg" you will receive a tall tin milkshake cup, the bottom hard with ice, filled with your drink of choice.
